Ravenswood Run: New Route, New Finish Line Treat

More than 3,000 runners will weave their way through Lincoln Square, Northcenter and Ravenswood on Sunday. Find out where they'll be an what lies at the finish line.

Thousands of runners will hit the streets Sunday for the 17th annual Ravenswood Run. Registration is sold out for the 5K race, which had a 3,500-person cap.

The race starts at the corner of Wilson and Hermitage Avenues and will run a different course than in years past, weaving through Sunnyside, Lincoln and Lawrence avenues.

Also new to the race is a pancake breakfast, served after the race. For a $10 donation, runners and their fans can eat as many maple syrup-covered cakes as they desire. Proceeds will go to the Ravenswood Community Services Food Pantry at All Saints Episcopal Church. Every $10 donation will buy 100 pounds of food for the pantry.

Although race registration is full, there's still plenty of room at the pancake breakfast.

The student health centers at Lake View and Amundsen high schools will also benefit from the race.
