Mayan End-of-the-World Parties, Santa Dominate North Side

Are you busy planning your weekend on the North Side? See what's happening in Northcenter, Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, Lake View and Lincoln Square during the next few days.

Northcenter

Skate with Santa, Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.
Details: Take your children to tell Santa their Christmas wishes at the McFetridge Sports Center, 3843 N. California Ave. The Chicago Parks Department will have a free magic show and cookie-decorating.
Cost: The magic show is free, but skate sessions range from $2 to $5.

Wicker Park 

Wicker Park Holiday Family Movie Night, Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Details: Bundle up and gather in Wicker Park Friday for a showing of Elf, starring Will Ferrell.
Cost: $2

Lake View

Wrigleyville Mayan Celebration, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Details: T.G.I. Friday’s is hosting a Mayan-themed party on Clark Street between Waveland and Addison; it very well could be the last Friday on Earth. If Wrigley isn’t your scene, check out these other ‘End of the World’ parties.

Lincoln Square

Shopping in the Square, Thursday and Sunday
Details: Come to Lincoln Square to finish last-minute holiday shopping. Thursday features a Sip & Shop event from 5 to 8 p.m. where shop owners provide snacks and wine tasting. On Sunday, eight stores in Ravenswood will stay open late.
