Where's Waldo? In Lincoln Square, Of Course!

The neighborhood is turning into a 'Where's Waldo' book this month in a celebration organized by The Book Cellar.

He's got a red-and-white striped shirt, bobble hat and glasses. And your mission—should you choose to accept it—is to find him.

The famed character known only as Waldo has disappeared in Lincoln Square, turning the neighborhood into one of artist Martin Handford's detailed landscapes.

To help find the striped traveler, pick up a passport from The Book Cellar, 4736 N. Lincoln Ave. Then, search for Waldo in more than 15 businesses on Lincoln Avenue from Lawrence to Wilson. A small Waldo decal will be in the windows to signify his location. Employees at those stores will stamp the passport.

After 10 stamps, bring the passport back to The Book Cellar for a prize and an entry to win free Waldo books. Residents can play the game from now until July 29.

Children have been searching Handford's books for more than 25 years. With 55 million books in print, generations have grown up looking for Waldo and his friends.

More than 250 independent shops teamed up with Candlewick Press and the American Booksellers Association to celebrate the books' popularity this month.
