Ravenswood Remix Moves Art Fair to Logan Square

Some residents aren't happy that the recycled arts festival is leaving Ravenswood for a new stomping ground.

A festival dedicated to recycled art is back for the next year, but won’t be in the same location.

Remix Chicago—formerly the Ravenswood Remix—is moving out of the neighborhood to Logan Square.

The announcement declaring the name and location change came Tuesday via Facebook.

After commenters expressed discontent with the new setting, organizers responded: “We loved being on Ravenswood, and this was an excruciatingly hard decision. Being two long blocks from either the Montrose or Irving El stops, it was a tough spot for our artists in terms of pedestrian traffic.”

The first Remix was in September 2012, stretching along Ravenswood Avenue one block north of Irving Park Road. For two days, art lovers could see indie, folk and craft products all made from recycled materials. Local food and music also entertained festivalgoers.

Proceeds from the event benefitted local school art programs and paid for the 12 eco-friendly workshops during the fair.

This year, the Remix is set for Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 in Logan Square, on Milwaukee Avenue between Fullerton and California. Artists can register from now until July 30.

Officials from Remix Chicago were not immediately available for comment.
