Former Alderman Sponsors Concert at Welles Park

Gene Schulter, who served on the city council for 36 years, is now in the business of making music in Lincoln Square.

Thanks to the generosity of Lincoln Square's former alderman, residents can listen to a free concert at Welles Park Aug. 6.

The Gene and Rosemary Schulter Foundation is sponsoring the show, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Gene Schulter served as alderman of the 47th ward from 1975 to 2011.

Bring the lawn chairs and dinner to hear the smooth, folky tones of Scott Ligon and Casey McDonough. The local musicians will be singing pop, country and jazz favorites.

The performance is part of the Welles Park Concert series, taking place every Tuesday throughout the summer.
