Storms Don't Stop the Steins: Maifest Begins in Lincoln Square (PHOTOS)
Despite stormy weather minutes before the annual German spring festival, hundreds turned out for the first night of Maifest.
Rain doesn't slow the beer-loving, German-rooted community of Lincoln Square.
Just minutes after two thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, crowds started gathering at the tents of the 13th annual Maifest, the German festival celebrating spring.
Barbecues were covered and people sidestepped to avoid puddles, but the beer was flowing. The celebration—organized by he May Fest Committee—lasts until Sunday.
Below are the hours and check out the Maifest website for performance information:
- Friday 5 to 11 p.m.
- Saturday 12 to 11 p.m.
- Sunday 12 to 10 p.m.
