Man Attacked While Entering Apartment on Christmas Day
Police said a man hit a 55-year-old Lincoln Square resident in the head at his apartment on West Giddings Street.
A 55-year-old man was left with only minor injuries after he was attacked entering his apartment on Christmas Day.
The victim was hit in the back of the head with an unknown object, causing him to fall down a set of stairs, police say. Officers were called to the scene on the 2700 block of West Giddings Street around 3:45 a.m.
According to the police report, the man was unlocking his front door when an unknown man ran up behind him and hit him in the back of the head. The force was apparently so great, the man fell down the set of stairs leading into his apartment.
That’s when the robber said, “Give me all your money,” followed the man down the stairs into his apartment and continued to kick his face and body, it said in the report.
Hearing a huge commotion from the basement apartment, a 56-year-old neighbor on the first floor of the same building went to check in on the bruised man. The neighbor approached the apartment door and saw the robber running down Giddings Street, according to police.
The suspect didn’t steal a single item from the man or his house, the victim told police.
He was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital at 5145 N. California Ave. to receive treatment. The police report said even after the hit to the head, fall down the stairs and scuffle in the apartment, then man only sustained minor injuries, a few cuts and a bloody nose.
